The U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform sent letters Wednesday to Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency demanding documents for the pending congressional probe into the water pollution. Subsequently, the investigation found it was apparent that officials at all levels of government were aware for more than a year that a hazardous chemical, <a href=\"\/zh\/article\/%e4%ba%86%e8%a7%a3-pfoa-%e5%81%a5%e5%ba%b7%e9%a3%8e%e9%99%a9\/\">\u5168\u6c1f\u8f9b\u9178<\/a>, had contaminated the Rensselaer County water system. However, residents were never warned to stop consuming from the villages public and private water supply.<\/p>\n<p>\u6765\u81ea\u53ef\u8ffd\u6eaf\u81f3 2014 \u5e74 12 \u6708\u7684\u7535\u5b50\u90ae\u4ef6\u7ebf\u7a0b\u7684\u8bc1\u636e\u8868\u660e\uff0cEPA\uff08\u73af\u5883\u4fdd\u62a4\u7f72\uff09\u5df2\u83b7\u6089\u6c34\u6c61\u67d3\uff0c\u4f46\u672a\u80fd\u5c06\u6b64\u4fe1\u606f\u4f20\u9012\u7ed9\u516c\u4f17\u3002 2015 \u5e74 12 \u6708\uff0c\u73af\u5883\u548c\u536b\u751f\u673a\u6784\u5efa\u8bae Hoosick Falls David Borge \u505c\u6b62\u544a\u8bc9\u5c45\u6c11\u996e\u7528\u53d7\u6c61\u67d3\u7684\u6c34\u662f\u201c\u4e2a\u4eba\u9009\u62e9\u201d\uff0c\u56e0\u4e3a\u4ed6\u4f9d\u8d56\u201c\u60c5\u51b5\u8bf4\u660e\u4e66\u201d\u663e\u7136\u4e0d\u4f1a\u5bf9\u5065\u5eb7\u4ea7\u751f\u4e0d\u5229\u5f71\u54cd\u6b63\u5e38\u4f7f\u7528\u6751\u91cc\u7684\u6c34\u3002\u540c\u6708\u5411\u5c45\u6c11\u53d1\u653e\u4e86\u76f8\u540c\u7684\u60c5\u51b5\u8bf4\u660e\u4e66\u3002<\/p>\n<p>\u5c3d\u7ba1\u4e00\u9879\u5e7f\u6cdb\u62a5\u9053\u7684\u5065\u5eb7\u7814\u7a76\u6e05\u695a\u5730\u5c06 PFOA\uff08\u51fa\u73b0\u5728\u8be5\u6751\u4f9b\u6c34\u4e2d\u7684\u540c\u4e00\u79cd\u5316\u5b66\u7269\u8d28\uff09\u4e0e\u80be\u764c\u548c\u5176\u4ed6\u591a\u79cd\u75be\u75c5\u8054\u7cfb\u8d77\u6765\uff0c\u4f46\u5dde\u536b\u751f\u90e8\u4ecd\u4fdd\u6301\u6c89\u9ed8\u3002\u8fd9\u4e0d\u4ec5\u662f\u6700\u8fd1\u7684\u53d1\u73b0\uff0c\u800c\u4e14\u5728 2009 \u5e74\u53d1\u5e03\u4e86\u4e00\u9879\u54a8\u8be2\uff0c\u8b66\u544a\u77ed\u671f\u63a5\u89e6 PFOA \u542b\u91cf\u8d85\u8fc7\u4e07\u4ebf\u5206\u4e4b 400 \u7684\u6c34\u662f\u4e0d\u5b89\u5168\u7684\u3002\u7136\u800c\uff0cHoosick Falls \u7684\u4f9b\u6c34\u7cfb\u7edf\u8bb0\u5f55\u7684\u6c34\u4f4d\u8d85\u8fc7 600 ppt\u3002<\/p>\n<p>PFOA is a toxic chemical that has been used since the 1940s to make industrial and household products such as nonstick coatings, specialty tapes and heat-resistant wiring. Several specialty manufacturing plants in eastern Rensselaer County and North Bennington, Vt., used the chemical for decades before studies emerged 10 years ago linking the substance to cancer and other serious diseases.<\/p>\n<p>The effects were studied and shown in both lab animal tests and large human popular surveys and the results showed that being exposed to larger levels of PFOA over a longer period of time can cause:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u764c\u75c7<\/strong>&#8211; mainly testicular and\u00a0kidney cancer though others could also be made worse<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pregnancy Problems<\/strong> \u2013 premature birth, low birth rate, blood pressure issues, and more<\/li>\n<li><strong>Liver\u00a0damage<\/strong>&#8211; accumulation of PFOA in the blood can cause damage to filtering kidneys<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thyroid\u00a0disease<\/strong>&#8211; delicate balance of the thyroid\u2019s hormone regulation can be impacted<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ulcerative colitis<\/strong>&#8211; digestive issues are also now being connected to PFOA poisoning<\/li>\n<li><strong>Changes to\u00a0cholesterol<\/strong>&#8211; medical experts are still trying to understand this effect<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mental clarity<\/strong>-it is still being investigated by PFOA may have a mental impact as well<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;It raises serious questions that the county and state would continue to assure residents the water was safe to drink even though the federal government had already warned residents to the contrary,&#8221; the House committee wrote in its letter to Cuomo.<\/p>\n<p>Napoli Shkolnik attorneys remain at the forefront of this <a href=\"\/zh\/%e7%bb%83%e4%b9%a0%e5%8c%ba\/%e7%8e%af%e5%a2%83%e8%af%89%e8%ae%bc\/\">\u73af\u5883\u8bc9\u8bbc<\/a> as it strives to bring justice to all Hoosick Falls residents involved in this unfortunate matter.
