It was found that this was a result of the recent discovery of the \u201cRoundup Ready\u201d crop that is resistant to the harmful chemical Glyphosate &#8211; the active ingredient in Roundup. Roundup ready crops make the use of this harmful herbicide more convenient and more cost efficient as the genetically engineered seeds are not affected by the mass spraying of Monsanto\u2019s widely used weed killer. As a result, increased exposure &#8211; specifically by agricultural workers, farmers and green house employees \u2013 has led the IARC to speculate the possible carcinogenic traits of Glyphosate, particularly leading to non-Hodgkin\u2019s lymphoma.<\/p>\n<p>However, this is not the first time Roundup has been involved in environmental or health cases. Cases typically involve individuals diagnosed with a form of non-Hodgkin\u2019s lymphoma following heavy exposure to the herbicide as a farm or agricultural worker, and not necessarily claims from exposure through the food chain.
