An Anchorage dentist was convicted on <\/span>multiple criminal counts<\/span><\/a>, including Medicaid fraud and failing to abide by the medical standard of care.<\/span><\/p>\n

Superior Court Judge Michael Wolverton said the state presented an \u201coverwhelming\u201d amount of evidence during a five-week trial. <\/span><\/p>\n

According to prosecutors, Dr. Seth Lookhart performed a number of unlawful acts. That included sedating a patient and extracting a tooth while he rode a Hoverboard. <\/span><\/p>\n

He then sent the video to several people, declaring that he had established \u201ca new standard of care.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

The patient said she did not consent to being filmed and it was \u201cunprofessional\u201d and \u201ccrazy\u201d to perform the procedure in that way. <\/span><\/p>\n

Through his attorney, Dr. Lookhart apologized to the patient, who did not know about the video until investigators reached out to her.<\/span><\/p>\n

The court also convicted Dr. Lookhart of Medicaid fraud. <\/span><\/p>\n

Judge Wolverton was incensed that Dr. Lookhart \u201cbelieved that he could get away with his fraud indefinitely, and that he believed his scheme was foolproof.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

The financial and medical malpractice evidence \u201cwas often supported, and often in excruciating detail, by Lookhart’s own texts, photos and videos,\u201d the judge added.<\/span><\/p>\n
