One watchdog group described Remote ID as a \u201cdigital license plate for drones<\/a>\u201d which should make them easier to track.<\/p>\n \u201cThe new rules make way for the further integration of drones into our airspace by addressing safety and security concerns,\u201d proclaimed FAA Administrator Steve Dickson.<\/p>\n \u201cThey get us closer to the day when we will more routinely see drone operations such as the delivery of packages.\u201d<\/p>\n According to some estimates, aerial drone delivery is 70 percent cheaper<\/a> than wheeled vehicle delivery.<\/p>\n Drones avoid traffic and travel further using less fuel.<\/p>\n These last two items also decrease drones\u2019 carbon footprint. Other researchers dispute these savings.<\/p>\n The potential benefits of drone delivery are enough to convince companies to embrace it.<\/p>\n Currently, there are about 20,000 delivery drones in the United States.
