\u200b\u200b\u200bNapoli<\/span>\u00a0Shkolnik<\/span>\u00a0 is proud to announce that Partner\u00a0Hunter J.\u00a0Shkolnik<\/span><\/a>\u00a0was named Co-Liaison Counsel in the Flint Water Crisis Litigation by United Stated District Judge Judith E. Levy of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.<\/p>\n

In this role, Mr.\u00a0Shkolnik<\/span>\u00a0will oversee all currently pending individual personal injury, property damage, and wrongful death cases, as well as the over 18,000 potential cases awaiting to be filed in this mass action arising out of the water contamination in Flint.<\/p>\n

The decision comes just over three years after the water crisis in Flint began. The lawsuits allege that Flint residents suffered ruinous damages to their health and property when Defendants recommended, approved, and caused Flint\u2019s water supply to become contaminated with corrosive lead and bacteria.\u00a0Napoli<\/span>\u00a0Shkolnik<\/span>\u00a0has been involved in this lawsuit from the beginning and has played a leading role in organizing, prosecuting, and coordinating the actions.<\/p>\n

As Co-Liaison Counsel, Mr.\u00a0Shkolnik<\/span>\u00a0will continue to investigate and develop the claims in this case by overseeing the coordination, preparation, and presentation of the necessary legal documentation. A team of environmental attorneys at\u00a0Napoli<\/span>\u00a0Shkolnik<\/span>, including Partner\u00a0Louise R.\u00a0Caro<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and Associates\u00a0Patrick J.\u00a0Lanciotti<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0Tate J.\u00a0Kunkle<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0Thomas R. Raleigh<\/a>, and\u00a0Aaron R.\u00a0Modiano<\/span><\/a>, will provide valuable assistance to Mr.\u00a0Shkolnik<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Families with young children are now beginning to see the manifestation of the debilitating side effects of lead exposure. Through no fault of their own, they must now deal with learning disabilities and medical treatments for physical and emotional ailments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unfortunately by the time state and county officials declared a public health emergency, urging residents not to drink, bathe or cook with unfiltered tap water, too many Flint residents were already dealing with the health hazards associated with lead exposure. Sadly, infants and children are particularly vulnerable to the effects of lead, even in small amounts. In addition to the medical issues facing the community, many local residents are also facing decreased home\/property values.<\/p>\n
