{"id":7011,"date":"2017-04-24T15:11:28","date_gmt":"2017-04-24T19:11:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:10028\/uncategorized\/napoli-shkolnik-files-federal-class-action-lawsuit-coal-waste-dump\/"},"modified":"2017-04-24T15:11:28","modified_gmt":"2017-04-24T19:11:28","slug":"napoli-shkolnik-files-federal-class-action-lawsuit-coal-waste-dump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/napolilaw.lemonadestand.org\/en\/article\/napoli-shkolnik-files-federal-class-action-lawsuit-coal-waste-dump\/","title":{"rendered":"Federal Class-Action Lawsuit Filed for Coal Waste Dump"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/4-18-17-Observer-Reporter-LaBelle-residents-file-federal-lawsuit-over-coal-waste-dump.pdf\">The Observer-Reporter<\/a> recently spoke with Napoli Shkolnik Partner <a href=\"\/napoli-attorney\/louise-r-caro-fl\/\">Louise Caro<\/a> regarding the class-action lawsuit the firm filed against FirstEnergy Corp. on behalf of Fayette County village residents.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Caro said, \u201cI think the people that live there in LaBelle are being completely ignored and have been poisoned for some time, and it\u2019s not going to stop.\u201d She went on to add, \u201cthat dust is not contained, and with the weather, wind, LaBelle is always getting inundated with this dust.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The suit alleges that residents have been subjected to dangerous chemicals from dust that leaves a large coal waste dump. The dust from the one-time largest coal-preparation processing site in the world, includes lead, arsenic, cadmium and chromium.<\/p>\n<p>Coal ash is being sent by \u201copen, uncovered barge to the prep site and then by open, uncovered truck up to the refuse site;\u201d all within proximity to homes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/4-19-17-Herald-Standard-Suit-filed-against-three-companies-in-connection-to-LaBelle-coal-ash-dump_.pdf\">The Herald Standard<\/a> is also covering the story and spoke with Napoli Shkolnik lawyer <a href=\"\/napoli-attorney\/w-steven-berman\/\">W.
